So, just what is a House Concert?
A House Concert is an opportunity to enjoy the talents of great acoustic musicians
and/or songwriters performing "in the raw", all within the intimacy and comfort of a home. House concerts are where people gather together to experience a more organic form of musical performance, to personally mingle with artists, and directly support their work. Usually the admission is via a donation (100% goes to the performers), and most performers offer their CDs, DVDs, and/or publications at a discount during the house concert. Whereas most typical music venues split their admission revenues among a large supporting cast of commercial entities (ranging from the parking lot attendant to the artist management and recording companies), house concert revenues entirely and directly support the artist(s), providing precious resources with which performers can concentrate upon their art, rather than produce according to the board room dictates of huge mass-market commercial media organizations. A house concert may be host to various types of music: budding new performers, singer/songwriters, eclectic world music, light rock, jazz, and folk musicians, neo-classical chamber music, and so on, including most genres, according to the unique tastes of the hosts and participants. It is truly music from the heart and soul, to the heart and soul. It is a shared experience supported by audience, performer, and host alike.
