Cedar Lane Elementary School opened in September 1999. The school had a construction cost of $11 million and serves grades K through 5. The school has a projected enrollment of 845 students, or 110% of capacity, for the 2000-2001.

The school is located on a 23.4 acre site on Tolamac Drive just west of Ashburn Rd in Oldtown Ashburn, near Ashburn's original elementary school which is now the Loudoun County Schools Staff Training Center.
