Ashburn's Ruritan Club was chartered in 1993 to serve the rapidly expanding Ashburn population. A volunteer civic service organization, Ruritan was founded in Holland, VA in 1928. Today, there are over 450 Virginia communities served by Ruritan and over 1400 nationally. The Ashburn club celebrated its 10 year anniversary in 2003 with a festive cake and a short break from the club's ongoing volunteer community service to the Ashburn area. |

Money to support the Ashburn Ruritan Club's charitable acts is obtained by fund raising activities conducted by members during the year. In addition, donations from industry and private citizens are accepted. The club is composed of concerned citizens representing a cross section of the Ashburn area, including men and women of all ages, professions, and ethnic backgrounds. |
